Joint Replacement

The goal of joint replacement surgery is to relieve pain in the joint caused by the damage done to the cartilage and bone. An arthritic or damaged joint is replaced during a total joint arthroplasty with new materials (usually metal and plastic), which are designed to enable the joint to move as the normal joint would. This typically provides complete pain relief with the ultimate goal to restore the patient to the highest level of function possible. We explore all treatment options and utilize total joint replacement if previous efforts to relieve pain and disability are unsuccessful. At Rezin Orthopedics and Sports Medicine, we implement the latest technology and techniques available including minimally invasive approaches and stronger, more durable components to speed recovery, decrease hospital stay, and increase implant longevity.

We want to ensure our patients are well educated on the treatment they will receive at Rezin Orthopedics and Sports Medicine and provide patient education materials in the form of books, classes, videos and models. We offer an educational program that gives each patient informative booklets with pre-operative and post-operative information, as well as a full description of the joint replacement surgery. Our physician assistants give pre-operative classes to explain the risks and benefits of surgery and what to expect after the surgery is completed. Videos and bone models are also utilized to show what will be removed during surgery and what materials will be inserted to complete the joint replacement surgery. We make it a priority to provide our patients with a full understanding and a satisfactory level of comfort about their surgical experience.
