Dr. Mir Ali, Board Certified Orthopedic Spine Surgeon at Rezin Orthopedics
and Sports Medicine, is now performing cervical epidural steroid injections.
Cervical injections can be offered as a treatment option when a patient is
suffering from neck pain and inflammation due to various spinal conditions
such as arthritis or pinched nerves.
Cervical radiculopathy, commonly known as a pinched nerve, is a
spinal condition that can cause mild to severe neck pain, arm pain,
or a combination of both. This condition can be described as Sciatica
of the arm, states Dr. Ali. The majority of patients with cervical
radiculopathy are treated non-operatively. Treatment may include physical
therapy, oral medications, and epidural steroid injections.
Epidural steroid injections help alleviate pain and inflammation,
making the rehabilitation process less painful. These injections are
challenging and should only be performed by a properly trained specialist.
Cervical epidural injections are performed safely in the office by Dr. Ali
with the support of his experienced team.
Epidural injections are not only a way to avoid surgery but also determine
whether or not surgery will be successful. It's the closest thing we have to
a 'test drive' of spine surgery, states Dr. Ali.
Dr. Ali also performs lumbar epidural steroid injections for patients
with lower back problems, and treats patients both non-operatively and
operatively for various neck and back conditions. Dr. Ali is known in the
medical community for his strong belief in patient education and as a
conservative surgeon who believes in surgery as the very last option.
Dr. Ali is accepting new patients at all four locations of Rezin Orthopedics: Morris,
Ottawa, Joliet and Bolingbrook. Dr. Ali and Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner
Paul Mazur are dedicated to providing their patients with comprehensive
personalized care and treatment for their back and neck conditions.
